SHORT WALK:   01 Aug 2024   Start: 10:30   Distance: 3.5 miles

Starting at the Five Bells public house, Baydon Rd, Wickham, Newbury RG20 8HH then onto the Welford road just under the motorway then up to the Welford park cricket pitch then cross back the Welford road then following the path on the other side over motorway and back through the woodlands which can be muddy and back to the five bells. No stiles, no big hills Please bring a drink & snack Only park at the pub if you are planning on using the pub afterwards. Please let me know if you are planning to use the pub so I can give them a guide of numbers

The walk for will be starting from the village hall ( RG20 8TE) in Chieveley car park at 10:30AM The walk is a circular walk around the countryside the length of the walk is 3.5/3.7 miles around 2hrs no stiles and just gentle hills ( could be muddy if wet) Lunch at the Red lion . If you’re staying for lunch please let me know.

SPECIAL SEPTEMBER WALK AND OUTING TO BUSCOT SHORT WALK Thursday 26 September 2024 Start: 10.15am Distance 4 miles Meet at 10.15am in the National Trust Visitors Car Park at Buscot Village, Faringdon, SN7 8DA for a 4 mile circular walk through fields, along the Thames Path and back to Buscot Wharf. The walk is flat and there are no stiles. There are historical features on route and lots of wildlife to see. Car share if possible. NT members can park for free. £4.00 car parking charge for non-members. The journey by car takes approximately 45 minutes. Refreshments/lunch are available at the Buscot Tea rooms. There is also the opportunity in the afternoon to visit Coleshill Estate that has a rural craft centre, a bookshop and tearooms. Approximately 2 miles away. Other suggestions would be to visit to Buscot House and Park to enjoy the gardens and see the Faringdon Collection. Or visit Kelmscott Manor a former home of William Morris and now owned and managed by The Society of Antiquaries of London. Afternoon visits to be arranged by members themselves.
